Graeme Dott
Graeme spent most of his career in banking with Standard Bank and Citigroup. Here he was exposed to a broad base of customers of all sizes and industries, operating in a number of countries. In addition to their borrowing, treasury and service requirements, he was privy to the many operational issues and business challenges experienced by them, in particular credit losses, transactional banking risks and frauds experienced by them. His specialist focus was on transactional and electronic banking across Sub-Sahara.
He consulted out of Business Against Crime South Africa (BAC) for a number of years where he had extensive exposure to Government, a project management environment, the broader criminal justice system and in particular commercial crime, corruption and its impact on governance. He also served as the financial executive of BAC where in addition to being responsible for the accounting, finance and operational control environment, he was also responsible for the internal audit and risk management processes.
Graeme Dott has spent much of the past four years being directly involved in the operations of a number of small businesses and has concentrated on consulting in the transactional banking space and to small business operators and would be entrepreneurs in the risk, viability and finance areas. It was during this period that he identified the need for far greater risk awareness, risk management, governance and compliance by small and medium sized business operators to stem unnecessary failure. This resulted in the compilation of the guide “D-Risking your Business” and the creation of practical risk awareness, good governance and core compliance check-list content and tools for businesses and organisations of all sizes and types.
Graeme has a BCom-accounts, tax and finance from The University of the Witwatersrand and a CAIB SA from the Institute of Banks in South Africa. He is also a certified SETA facilitator.

We both see Dott Risk performing a vital role in society, by giving busy entrepreneurs and business operators the tools they need to identify the risks that could threaten their businesses and cause trauma for all stakeholders.
The founders are very different. One is highly detailed and passionate about being as comprehensive and practical as possible with the assessments and tools, whereas the other is more concerned about the solution being relevant for as many people and making a meaningful contribution to members risk management. We believe that this difference in approaches helps to ensure solutions that are accessible and yet sufficiently detailed and technically robust.
